Software¶
Version: 18.04.02
- For those of you already running Version 17.03.20, you can download the 18.04.02 update tar ball
here
and then upgrade your Sixaola through the web front-end (this requires version 16.11.28). Steps include: - Navigate to Settings Overview, then scroll down to Update Software at the bottom of the page
- Hit upload and upload 18.04.02.tar.gz
- Wait for Stdout and Stderr have been populated with messages (~30 seconds)
- Choose Yes for Restart Sixaola (but be sure to wait for some messages to appear beneath Stdout and Stderr first)
- Changes:
- Includes firmware update SX-2-2.10 which solved the GeoFlex spikes issues discovered at ASL
- ODF-MSG-ROUTER: Now v2018.88
- different LED states to distinguish between NTP and GPS_UNLOCK timing modes:
- NTP mode = solid red
- GPS_UNLOCKED mod = slow-blinking red
- GPS: better handling of states and moving between the various possibilities, including picking up correct geoloc coordinates after GPS lock comes on

- disabled caps.service which was interferring with postboot sequence (by starting before postboot cleared gpsOnOff.txt, leading to a false GPS “Not Locked” message)

- Tightened integration with SeisComP(3,Pro) by adding SeisComP inventory XML format to web front-end instrument response generator. Now RESP, dataless and SeisComP inventory XML are automatically generated.
- Replaced GeoFlex instrument response with new, improved one following visit to Albuquerque Seismic Laboratory (ASL) [per request of INSIVUMEH, Guatemala]
- Disk usage reported in terms of remaining Mb/ Gb in addition to % used
- upload_max_filesize changed from 2M to 64M (update 16.11.01 is 2.4 MB). This should ensure web updater works for all future updates to the Sixaola
- Under the hood:
- Triggering now works for all sample rate configurations (previously did not work for sample rates other than 100 sps) [per request of UNAM, México]
- Fixed bug where unit would not get GPS lock without NTP, making it impossible to use the Sixaola without a network connection and only GPS [per request of UNAM, Mexico & EAFIT, Colombia]
- Darien Client Mode: Fixed duplicate MAC address problem
- mySixaola script can now be executed from command-line as “mysixaola” or “mySixaola”. Added longitude and elevation to output in addition to latitude. Disk usage reported as “X% (of Y Mb/ Gb)” instead of “X%”
- Better logging, especially on time-tears
- Bug fix when channel sample rate is set to 0 (OFF) - This would affect you if you were running the Sixaola with either velocity or acceleration channels set to OFF.

- Released new instrument response files for Sixaola3-V2 and Sixaola4-V2.
- Fixed negative gains on Sixaola3 accelerometer channels (changed from negative to positive)
- Fixed azimuth/ dips on *HE components for Sixaola3 and Sixaola4 velocity channels (dip and azimuth had been reversed)
- Web interface:
- Added a local updater to the web interface so that the firmware and/ or software can be updated without direct access by OSOP. See “Settings Overview” >> “Update Software” at web interface

- NTP timing enhancements
- NTP port changed from 123 to 1025-65535 as: iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -p udp –sport 123 -j MASQUERADE –to-ports 1025-65535. This was done after installing 72 Sixaolas at fire stations in Costa Rica where old routers block the return of NTP petitions on port 123.
- Added new data flow mode: “SeedLink Streamer (With Local Backup)” - 3 days saved to disk for Sixaola3; 7 days saved to disk for Sixaola4 (This was per Andrey’s request in Russia)
- Added “Download instrument response button” to web front end at “Settings Overview” and “Instrumentation” tabs. You can now download a fully configured on-demand dataless and RESP files (station name, sample rates, latitude, longitude, elevation are automatically populated)

Hardware¶
- Sixaola4-V4: Now “Raspberry Shake Pro SX4-V4”

- Rebranded the Sixaola to “Raspberry Shake Pro”
- Moved all GeoFlex/ GeoPulse components top-side of board and under shielding
- Ground shield added on back side over the entire analog area
- Added additional RF protection at geophone inputs
- Changed resistor values in hyperdamper to ensure flat frequency response out to 40 Hz
- Upgraded capacitors in hyperdamper (now all 5%)
- Added a way to directly hard reset Sixaola board from Beagle Bone Black computer

- Upgraded the accelerometer from MEMS to GeoFlex, OSOP’s piezo-accelerometer with long-period extension

- With Debian integration into BBB, we can now issue a high priority interrupt to the BBB when the power goes out. The Sixaola4 has a bigger capacitor and can power the BBB longer, allowing for an orderly shutdown of the Linux operating system
- The Sixaola can now ship inside of a metal box
- Power management improvements (eliminated possibility of an infinite reboot loop state)
- BBB is able to issue a restart of the Sixaola4 board
